David Estrin is a senior research fellow with the Centre for International Governance Innovation’s International Law Research Program. He is regarded as Canada’s senior environmental law specialist and is an experienced environmental litigator.  This lecture will focus on the strategic role of climate litigation in achieving climate justice, and on innovative climate change loss and damage funding and management mechanisms. Mr. Estrin is immediate past chair of the International Bar Association’s Environment Committee, and recently co-chaired the IBA Presidential Task Force on Climate Change Justice and Human Rights. The Task report, Achieving Justice and Human Rights in an Era of Climate Disruption, was released in the fall of 2014 and has been widely commended.   He is currently co-chair of an IBA expert working group drafting a Model Climate Change Remedies Statute.
