This week’s instalment of the ICCCAD Seminar Series will be taking place at 3 pm on Thursday, September 25 at the ICCCAD Baridhara Office. Masroora Haque will be presenting in a seminar titled “How to think and write like a journalist”.
About the Seminar:
Publishing your research findings in the newspaper will help everyone understand the impact of climate change in their daily lives and bring more exposure to your work. However, writing for a mass audience is different from writing for an academic community. The Daily Star and Dhaka Tribune, two leading national English dailies in Bangladesh are eager to publish articles written by ICCCAD researchers and staff, so this week’s seminar will be more hands-on and include brief writing exercises, tips, tool and help you think like a journalist. These include;
- How to relate your research findings to everyday lives
- How to break down the jargon into simple English
- Outline for a newspaper article
- Adding “color” to your article
- Visuals and infographs
About the Speaker:
Masroora Haque is the Coordinator, Communications at ICCCAD. She holds a BA in Communications Studies from York University and a Graduate Diploma in Corporate Communications and Public Relations from Seneca College in Toronto, ON, Canada.
