The next instalment of the weekly ICCCAD Seminar Series will take place on Wednesday, September 3 at the ICCCAD Conference Room, 98 Park Road, Baridhara. This week’s speaker is Kathinka Evertsen and her presentation topic is titled a ‘Environmental migration: a gender perspective’.
Kathinka’s research project addresses internal migration in Bangladesh as a response to environmental stressors in the Bhola district – from a gender perspective. By comparing the stories of migrating men and women, the goal is to explore to what extent the migration outcome has been positive or negative for the migrant and what role gender play in mediating this experience.
About the Speaker:
Kathinka has a bachelor in Political Science from University of Oslo, and is currently enrolled in the masters programme Human Rights and Humanitarian Action at Paris School of International Affairs, SciencesPo, with concentrations in Environment and South Asia. Currently she is carrying out Field work in Bangladesh.
