Visiting Researcher

mariko-power Mariko Powers is a visiting researcher at ICCCAD. She is currently pursuing her MA in International Environmental Policy at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in Monterey, California, with a specialization in Business and Sustainable Development. She was selected by MIIS’s Center for Social Impact Learning to conduct action research in a developing country as a Social Impact Scholar, and chose to come to Bangladesh to examine community-based adaptation to climate change. She graduated from Occidental College in 2013 with a BA in Diplomacy and World Affairs and a minor in Urban and Environmental Policy, and worked for two years as the Membership Director of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. She then spent a year in Thailand as a program coordinator for a study abroad program that immerses students in sustainable development issues. In 2012, she was an intern in the Bureau of Development Policy at the United Nations Development Programme in New York, where she tracked the participatory processes leading to the creation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
